Since the introduction of DDT in the 1940s, pesticides have played a major role in crop protection and the control of vector borne diseases in most developing countries. Pesticides can enter the body by way of the mouth, inhalation, or by contact with the eyes and skin. These synthetic pesticides are harmful to human and other animals. They may also linger in the environment for a long time thus polluting the environment. Judicious use of these products is therefore crucial and necessary hence this course.
