SZL 3350 RESEARCH METHODS
Defining research. Philosophy behind research. Research approaches and types of research. The research process: Identifying the research problem, research objectives, literature review. Data collection. Data collections tools: Surveys, questionnaires, field visits and observation, sample collection and analyses. Analyses of socio-economic data. Controlled experiments. Planning experiments and sampling from normal distribution. Replications. Randomization. Key experimental designs: Completely randomized block, completely randomized and Latin square designs, factorial experiments and split-plot. Application of computer software for experimental design and data analysis. Students will be expected to design, implement experiment and analyze statistical data.
