Course content
Power electronics: Introduction, application of power electronics.
Devices: Power transistors; MOSFETs, SCR-thyristors, power diodes, IGBT, characteristics and protection requirement, half and full wave rectifiers with reactive and active loads.
Controlled and uncontrolled power conversion using switch modulation.
Characteristics of switching diodes and thyristors.
AC to DC converter, AC converter, DC to DC converter, control of DC power supply system with reversible power flow.
Motor control circuits; phase and PWM control.
Basics of mechatronics: mechatronic systems; components, functions, general architecture, computing elements in mechatronics, system modeling and analysis, intelligent mechatronic devices.
Application of mechatronics information acquisition; planning projects, production organization, case studies.
